From data to credit
What the raw observations become
A field team collects the same handful of raw records everywhere: species occurrences, their measurements, the sampling event, and the audio or images that back them up. This page starts at those raw records and shows what has to be derived from them downstream. For every raw field you can see the indicators drawn from it, which of the 17 nature methodologies require that indicator, and how each one is turned into a credit.

01 · The analysis, in plain steps
Every nature credit follows the same shape of analysis on the raw observations. The last step is the methodology's own rule, which you can read on each node of the tree below.
Biodiversity
- 1Collect the raw observations: species occurrences, their measurements, and the sampling event that frames them.
- 2Resolve each observation to a taxon with its abundance and conservation status.
- 3Score every indicator for the monitoring period from those measurements.
- 4Aggregate the indicator scores into one site value, for example the median of a metric basket, an Econd, or condition multiplied by area.
- 5Compare the site value to the baseline survey to get the change.
- 6Apply the methodology's rule to turn that change into credits.
Agrobiodiversity
- 1Collect the raw observations across the farm or landscape: crops, breeds and pollinators, with the sampling event.
- 2Resolve each observation to a crop, breed or pollinator with its count and status.
- 3Score the agrobiodiversity indicators for the period.
- 4Aggregate them into one farm or landscape value.
- 5Compare to the baseline to get the change.
- 6Apply the methodology's rule to turn the change into credits.
Ecotourism
- 1Collect the wildlife and habitat observations on the hosted conservation land.
- 2Confirm the conservation state has been maintained or improved over the period.
- 3Tie the verified visitor-nights and community revenue to that conservation outcome.
- 4Apply the methodology's rule to turn the visits into credits.
02 · The tree, rooted at the raw observations
Each root is one observation record. Open a record to see the raw fields it carries, then open a field to see every indicator derived from it, the methodologies that require that indicator, and the downstream computation that turns it into a credit. Use the filter to focus on one credit family.
03 · How each credit is computed
The final metric each methodology derives from the verified indicators.
Biodiversity
1 Nature Credit = one quality-hectare-equivalent of uplift; extent × condition drive credits, significance differentiates units.
Community-measured biodiversity change vs a baseline → PV Biodiversity Certificate; stackable with PV Climate.
1 credit = a 1% uplift (or avoided loss) per hectare in the median of a basket of ≥5 site-specific metrics.
1 Tebu = 10 m²; issuance scaled by rarity, connectivity, threat/climate-vulnerability, duration, condition & a social factor, released on verified milestones.
1 credit = 30 days of one protected hectare, valued by baseline ecosystem × indicator-species integrity (Savimbo-based).
1 VBC = 30 days × 1 ha, graded by the baseline ecosystem value × the indicator-species integrity score.
Indicators scored against a reference benchmark → Econd 0–100; the unit reflects condition and its change over time.
Framework still under development, with its unit yet to be finalised; the evidence timeline is built now to future-proof issuance.
Units = area × distinctiveness × condition × strategic significance, adjusted for connectivity; ≥10% net gain, secured 30 yr.
Biodiversity certificate records native-vegetation restoration outcomes over the project's permanence period.
1 Sustainable Development Unit = a verified biodiversity outcome (habitat area protected/restored) over the project period.
Agrobiodiversity
1 SAC = hectare-month maintaining diverse / rare crop species; payment tied to sustained crop diversity.
Indicator-based monitoring of crops, livestock breeds and pollinators → agrobiodiversity credit.
1 aBU·ha·yr = a 1% change in the aggregated basket of agrarian biodiversity metrics.
Ecotourism
Verified visitor-nights fund conservation; DWC occurrences evidence the wildlife the visits sustain on IPLC land.
GSTC is a certification standard that recognises operators and destinations; DWC records evidence its biodiversity-conservation criteria (D1 / D3.1).
GER certifies across the 4Cs; the Conservation pillar's species / habitat monitoring is carried by DWC records.
