What it is
EA02 Agrobiodiversity enhancement is an eligible project category defined in the Cercarbono Biodiversity Certification Programme (CBCP) Protocol. It covers actions that increase agricultural biodiversity, including conservation of crops, livestock breeds, and pollinators along with their associated ecosystems, and practices such as regenerative agriculture, with priority given to threatened or native species. Projects are quantified through an approved biodiversity methodology under the programme and issue biodiversity credits that are independently verified. The category sits alongside other CBCP interventions and uses indicator based monitoring of biodiversity outcomes.
What it rewards
The reward is a credit called a Cercarbono Agrobiodiversity Credit (CAC). One credit stands for a one percent change in farm biodiversity across a hectare over a year. A verified gain in agricultural biodiversity, tied to food security and local livelihoods. A whole period of work is issued as one batch of credits at a time, in the same way a registry issues a batch.
What gets measured
To earn CAC credits, a project has to measure and prove a few things. An independent reviewer checks the evidence before any credits are issued.
Crop species & varieties. Conservation of crops within farms and supply chains.
Livestock breeds. Conservation of livestock breeds, priority to native breeds.
Pollinators & associated species. Conservation of pollinators and their associated ecosystems.
Threatened / native species priority. Priority given to threatened or native species.

Who takes part
Standard Registry. Owns the policy, approves participants, anchors each issuance to its evidence.
Project Proponent. Registers the project and submits monitoring reports.
Validation & Verification Body. Independently validates the design and verifies monitored data.
How it works
